by Dave Waxtel, 1994 Quantum Printing I had the unique opportunity to learn these rule under the aegis of their author/creator David Waxtel--an opportunity not to be missed, as he combines an entrepreneurial style with humor and knowledge, resulting in a sort of Sammy Davis, Ted Turner, Shelby Foote synthesis. TDFG is a d6 based game for those who enjoy throwing dice. It is fast and easier to learn by doing than by reading the rules. That said, there is some excellent historical notes by Nigel Smith, some beautiful pictures of exquisitely painted miniatures, and orders of battle for the French and Prussian armies. Scale is Brigade/Divisional, with each figure about 50 men. One inch equals 50 yards. Each game turn is about 15 minutes. TDFG has some interesting quirks; the author has no rules allowing light cavalry to engage in skirmishing, and prohibits them from dismounting on the battlefield. House rules easily amend this for scenario play. They Died For Glory is available from Modeller's Mart, for $19.95 plus shipping. Recommended. More Reviews
