These humanoid creatures are savage and bestial, having protruding lower jaws lined with sharp, jagged teeth. Their eyes are generally almondshaped and are a sallow, yellow color. Murakians prefer to use weapons that require little skill, such as spears and clubs, although when trained in warfare their preferred weapon is the shortsword. Regardless of their weapon choice, they get +1 to hit do to their aggressiveness. They usually wear hide or leather armor, with sub-chiefs and chieftains wearing pilfered chainmail.

Their society is made up of thousand of tribes. Throughout their history, evil beings have risen to positions of leadership, ruling all the tribes. However, because of the feudal nature of their society and a code whereby the strongest rules, coherent authority and rule has been unable to be instituted. Therefore, most tribes tend to remain separate, with their chieftain exercising supreme authority, and number from 40 to 200 individuals. For every 50 Murakians there is one sub-chief (3+2 HD) and for every 100 there is a shaman of 1st-, 2nd-, or 3rd-level (randomly determined), able to use the major spheres of AL, AN, DI, EL, and WE, and minor spheres of HE, NE, and SU.

Murakians live for about 70 years. They tend to favor temperate forests, and wooded hills and mountains for their settlements.
