By Squire Sean O'Connor
(Conjuration, Invocation) 8th-level Magic-user spell
After casting this spell the caster physically becomes the elemental creature of his specification, but it must be one with which he is familiar- (having encountered, studied, or conjured it before). He will have all the normal statistics for the elemental in question, save that the AC, hp, INT, and personality of the creature thus formed will be the caster's. Any and all limitations applicable to the type of elemental in question will apply to the caster once the spell is completed and the caster has become the elemental of choice. If the caster is reduced to zero hp in this state, then he transforms back to his original form, but when doing so a saving throw vs. spell at a penalty of -2 must then be made. Failure to save indicates that the caster is "re-born" on the elemental plane of origin for the elemental in question, and he remains there forever (or until summoned!) as that type of elemental, though he still has his original personality. If he saves, the caster may be revived or healed by standard procedures. If a successful dispel magic is used on the caster while he has become elemental he will be returned to his original form and will be stunned, unable to move or act, for d6 rounds (no save). The material for this spell is a small mirror and the appropriate component for the elemental conjuration (see the 5th-level magic-user spell, conjure elemental).
