(Evocation, Invocation) 7th-level Magic-user spell
Seaver's Deadly Light Show was created by the crazy mage more for show than effect, but it does have its uses. Upon casting the spell, the magic-user is surrounded by a cascading light display and pulsing, nebulous magical spheres of illumination. These cast enough light around the area to be clearly seen at least five miles away on a clear night, or to light even huge caverns or rooms. These lights will blind all creatures within 10' of the caster for 1d3 turns, or for ld6 rounds for those within 11' to 50', and all facing these lights within line of sight automatically lose initiative for the following melee round. In addition, the spell has a powerful, offensive component, allowing the caster to fire up to half of the pulsing spheres of light at one or more creatures within 60' plus 10' per level. The caster receives a number of spheres equal to half his experience level, and of these only half can be used in this manner. Like magic missiles the spheres automatically hit the target designated by the spell caster, dealing 1d8+1 points of damage upon impact and for each that hits, and then the target must save vs. spells or be blinded for an additional d4 rounds. The blinding effect of each sphere is cumulative. The material component for this spell is a rubber band and phosphorescent lichen.
