Impressions From the Prism

Other New Items

WILDERLANDS OF THE MAGI REALM Designed by Mark Holmer, a D&D supplement consists of four more campaign maps (17"x22") presented in duplicate that the DM will have a detailed map himself and an undetailed one for his players: two 16-page 8 1/2" x 11" booklets giving course programming of what one will find on the campaign: and a flier telling which hexes on map have the same descriptions as some on map. Included in the booklets is some information giving miniscule programming for some villages, castles. and citadels. WMR is available from Judges Guild (see addre above) or from Lowry Enterprises for $8.50.

TREASURY OF ARCHAIC NAMES Volume 1 This 64-page, 8 1/2" x 11" booklet designed and written by Bill Owen, is packed with ... names. Yep, that's all it is, but I'd like to try to count the number of names the aid will generate. It includes listings for male and female first names, nicknames, and surnames; place names; titles; tavern names; geographic names; sources of names; and finally a section making up your own names. The aid seems to be of use only to those who spend a lengthy amount of time designing their characters at campaigns. TAN is available from Judge's Guild or Lowry Enterprises for a paltry $4.95.

CHARACTER CODEX Another Judge's Guild release, Character Codex is the most comprehensive character data sheet I've seen. Tear out sheets are provided for 54 characters, including a drawing of the character in action and three columns of statistics to fill in for the person's attributes and accoutrements. The reverse side of each sheet contains an equipment and supplies cost list and a blank shield emblazon, so that the player may design h own coat of arms. Codex sells for $4.50 and available from JG or LE.

THE LOST ABBEY OF CALTHONWEY Lost Abbey is a complete campaign similar to those already reviewed in this column; howevr, it is a Little Soldier release rather than a TS or JG job. Having 24 pages with an addition four to pop out from the center (containing the necessary maps), the game becomes a concise adventure pitting a group of heroes or betters against the fiends that dwell within the abbe The abbey has two levels above ground at three below, completely programmed. Also included are a few new monsters, some specific characters, and special wanderer tables. Room descriptions are cursory, as with JG's work, the physical graphics are comparable to those TSR. Lost Abbey is available from The Little Soldier, 12180 Nebel Street, Rockville, MD 20852, or from LE for $4.95.
