Avalon Hill's TOBRUK, as reviewed here in issue #70, was the "Limited Edition" with the so-called "pre-publication" rules. The full production version is now out. As anticipated, the roughtextured surface of the box has been replaced by the more normal slick-paper surface, Also, while the same cover picture is used, it is now in color instead of black on tan. Inside there is a new sheet of Damage and Hit Probability Tables and a new rules book -- identifiable by its dark brown cover, as opposed to the tan cover of the pre- publication rules. By the use of much smaller type (3 columns per page now, formerly 2) what formerly took the entire 36-page rules book to cover now occupies only about the first 21 1/2 pages. The rest contain more Experimental Rules (artillery weapon crew, infantry. stuka, captures, Scenario Addenda, Free Form Scenarios (making up your own). ten new hypothetical scenarios called "Firefights", Capsule Scenario Summaries historical notes), Designer's (historical) Notes, References (bibliography), Weapons Effectiveness, Systems Specifics, Comments and Game Deficiencies, and Game Function Summaries (quick reference charts). TOBRUK sells for $12.00 plus $1.25 for shipping and is available from Avalon Hill, 4517 Harford Road, Baltimore MD 21214. More Thumbnail Analysis
