In issue #62 I briefly reviewed Tactical Studies Rules' fantasy paper-and-pencil game, DUNGEONS & DRAGONS, and in #68 I reviewed their first supplement to D&D, GREYHAWK. Now their long-awaited second supplement, by Dave Arneson, is out. Physically it matches GREYHAWK and the three original volumes. The material within is, like D&D itself, divided into three categories: Men & Magic, Monsters & Treasure and Underworld & Wilderness Adventures. The first category contains complete information on two new types of characters: Monks and Assassins. Monks (the Order of Monastic Martia[ 1 Arts) are a sub-class of Clerics which also combines the general attributes of Thief and Fighting Man. Assassins are a subclass of Thieves. Also included is a system for determining hit location during melee and effect on various types of creatures of hits in various parts of the body. The second category contains complete information on a great list of new mons ters -- mostly aquatic types. The final category contains detailed information on the "Temple of the Frog" and the "High Priest of the Temple of the Frog" providing much information on the oldest and longest-running D&D game in the world. from which this volume takes its name, rules for conducting underwater adventures and rules covering the workings and effects of various diseases ' If you are an avid D&D adventurer (and this goes double for D&D game masters) you can't afford to pass this by. There are 56 pages plus covers and plenty of excellent illustrations. The price is $5.00 and it is available from better hobby shops or from Panzerfaust Publications,PO Box 896, Fallbrook, CA 92028.
