Jack Scruby is following up the success of his 9mm Napoleonic, and other era, figures with an interesting line of WWII armor and infantry. Now available are British, American, and German vehicles and men for the North African campaign, 1940-43. Russian Front figures will follow in a few months. The scale would be approximately 1 to 150, which puts it about mid-way between the 1 to 76 scale Airfix, Edai and other plastic models, and GHQ's 1 to 285 scale "Micro-Armour." In my opinion, this is an area that has been ripe for someone to move into. The 1/76 and 1/87 scale plastic tanks take up so much room that it is difficult to manuever more than a platoon or two per side on any reasonably sized table. But the Micro-armour is so small that infantry in that scale becomes virtually unidentifiable stick figures. Scruby's scale is large enouqh to allow a wide range of infantry poses and equipment, plus such items as motorcycles, antitank guns, etc., while small enouqh so as not to take up more room than necessary. This scale should allow multi-company actions, at least, on a 4' x 8' or 5' x 9' table. These figures are also available from the Toy Soldier. More Thumbnail Analysis
