Avon, 2000, $6.50, ISBN 0-380-78830-6, 403 pgs., paperback The third in the Heritage trilogy picks up the action where the second left off. This time, the marines head to Europa, a moon of Jupiter, where yet another alien artifact rests beneath the surface. Only the Chinese are on the way and the war over Mars, Earth, and the moon will get a new battleground. Ant this alien artifact isn't dead.... Douglas hooks you again in the vacuum of space, postulating a near future of warfare delectably real after the high-tech, far-future Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. It's the ground pounders, not the techie toys, that do the job on and below the surface of Europa. By its title, the Marines have come to the end of the line. One hopes Douglas will continue with another trilogy along the same lines. Other Books in the Series
