In an earlier edition of NN&Q I mentioned the availability of very detailed orders of battle for the engagements of the Napoleonic Wars. This information is now available from Battlehonours Software, 42 Hastings Road, Maidstone, Kent, ME15 7SP. Tel.0622 661771. These lists are part of the Nafziger Collection covering thousands of Orders of Battle from 1600 to 1945. Catalogue 4 covers the French Revolutionary Wars, Cat.5 Napoleonic 1800-1810, Cat.6 Napoleonic Spain, and Cat.7 Napoleonic 1811-1815. Each catalogue lists the orders of battle available. The orders vary from one to a number of pages, depending on the engagement, and each page costs 25p. I obtained a number of sheets for various colonial campaigns involving the British Army, and have found these to be ideal material for organising wargames armies of the period. Each sheet gives the source of the information if you wish to follow up the research. Many (but not all) give the numbers of men in each unit listed. If you are researching a particular battle for a wargame or for an historical article, then look into this source of information for the regiments involved. More Dusty Archive
