Greenhill have recently published Wellington in the Peninsula 1808-1814 by Jac Weller, price £ 19.50. This book looks at Wellington's campaign in the Iberian Peninsula from the viewpoint of the great man himself. Each action is described in detail, complete with orders of battle and a brief note on the main topographical features remaining today. One day I intend visiting the scenes of these actions in the Peninsular campaign, but until then I will make do with reading about them in Mr. Weller's book which accompanies the text with a number of photographs illustrating the events. These photographs bring the lucid and detailed narrative alive. This volume is a recommended accompaniment to Wellington at Waterloo by the same author. I am looking forward to the next in the trilogy - Wellington in India. More Dusty Archive
