This is a new society that may be of interest to those readers who study the naval history of the period. The Naval Dockyards Society was formed in 1996 and has the support of the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich. It provides a forum for those who have an interest in naval dockyards and associated organisations, and is concerned with any aspects of naval dockyards: construction, history, workforce, as well as the surrounding communities. This society produces two newsletters each year, organises meetings and visits, and generally promotes interest and awareness of the study of naval dockyards both in the UK and abroad. Annual membership costs £ 5 ($15 US). For further information contact the Secretary: Mrs Ann Coats, 44 Lindley Avenue, Southsea, Portsmouth, Hants, P04 9NU. Telephone 01705 787263. More Dusty Archive
