Once Christmas and the New Year celebrations are over it is customary to start planning holidays. If you fancy a trip abroad to a place of Napoleonic interest, then there are two Tour operators who have sent me details of their 1994 programme. Grapeshot Tours are running four holidays this year. If you would like to obtain a colour brochure giving details of these interesting tours then contact Ann & Michael Hannon, 'Lindenhof', Weyhill, Andover, Hants, SPIl 8HX. Tel. 0264 773711. Midas Battlefield Tours Ltd. is a company new to this scene, who have sent me details of their tours for 1994. They are: UNDER SPANISH SKIES
14th - 21st May, 1994 This one looks at Wellington's victories from Talavera to Salamanca.
All these tours will visit the battlesites and be accompanied by a special guest speaker -Ian Fletcher - who will brief travellers on the events that happened at the places they visit and guide them around each battlefield. Each tour is accompanied by a number of talks by Ian. For further details contact Midas Battlefield Tours Ltd., Omphalos House, Horsell Rise, Horsell, Surrey, GU21 4BD. Tel. 0483 729513. The Company has plans for tours in 1995 to include Napoleon's campaigns in Germany, Austria and France; the Jacobite rebellion; the Spain of El Cid; the English Civil War; Hannibal in Europe; a Sussex medieval weekend; the campaigns of the Duke of Marlborough; and a military history cruise down the Rhine. This is certainly a tour company to keep an eye on, whatever your interest in history. Re-enactment of the Napoleonic period If you would like to see research of Napoleonic uniforms, equipment and tactics being put into practice, then why not visit one of the many re-enactments to be staged by the Napoleonic Association this colming year. The dates for UK: 28/29/30th May Congleton Carnival and Tattoo
