TERRAIN

Setting up the game The table size is 8' X 10', with the North-South axis running up and down the 10' .

If one also wishes to include the Sanatorio de Bella Vista, the table would need to be 8'X12'. Divide the map into 12" X 12"' squares.

Across the north side of the map, from left to right, label the squares A-H

Down the west side of the map, from top to bottom, label them 1-10. (1-12)

The Northwestern most square should be A-1, the Southeastern most one should be H-10. (H-12)

Known features:

Pozuelo de Alarcon town should be in square C-5 and I have it as just under 1 foot square--about 6 buildings 3" X 3" . Pozuelo Cemetary is in the southern 4" of C-7 and northern 1" of C-8 (about 5" X 7") . The Rail Station is in the middle of E-3 ( 1 bldg about 4" X 5") . Humera occupies parts of E-3-4, G-3-4 (about 6 3" X 3" buildings; more in G-3/4) . Aravaca occupies all of G-1 and dips into G-2 by about 2" (7-8 3" X 3" buildings) . Sanatorio de Bella Vista would be in part of squares E-11 and G-11.

Assumed features:

A main road (La Corruna road) starting at 4" into square A-1, running down through A-2, then curving to the SE and heading straight into Pozuelo de Alarcon, continuing out of Pozuelo pretty much straight SE curving slightly to exit table in about the middle of square H-9.

A railroad on an embankment running pretty much parellel to the main road starting in C-1(in the easternmost side of that square) running SE through the rail station, and exiting the table in square H-5. I have it just clipping the SW corner of Humera. Minor roads connecting Pozuelo de Alarcon/Humera; Humera/Aravaca; and from Humera to the main road in square E-7. Also a minor road running south from the main road in square G-9-10. If one was including Sanatorio de Bella Vista, this last road would lead down to it, and continue off map in square G-12.

Contours and other features:

All are level one hills

1. D,E,F-1, bell shaped with wide ends on table edge. About 10" from edge to peak in center of E-1

2. B-2 to C-3 irregular oval, 1' long by 8" wide

3. parts of A-6 & 7, B-6&7 about 4" in from table edge 1' long by 10" wide

4. big one occupying part or all of F-7, G-7, F-8, G-8,H-8, F-9, G-9......3' long from North to South, 1' 9" at widest point East to West. bottom half should be narrower than top half.

5. oval occupying only 4" from table edge of B-10, C-10. If one is using the 12' table, this one also occupies part of A-11 and B-11, and should be 1' 3" long by 9" wide at widest point.

Vegatation:

1. Woods stand covering most of hill #1following its shape almost exactly except offset about 2" to the west.

2. Light woods stand in B-2, C-2, 4'' down onto hill #2

3. Light woods stand in south half of C-3, D-3; north half of C-4, D-4

4. Very small light woods/orchard in center of E-4

5. Light woods in south half of G-2, H-2, all of G-3, H-3, north 5" of G-4, H-4

6. Light woods in south half of A-4, all of A-5, dipping into B-4,5 and A-6

7. Upside down "L"- shaped woods starting in E-6, all of F-6, east half of E-7, most of G-7, north 4" of E-8, G-8.

8. Light woods in south half of C-8, east 4" of B-9, all of C-9, west 4" of D-9

9. Light woods in south 4" of E-10, F-10.

If you are using the full 12' table, this Light woods goes down into D-11, F-11, and dips into E-12.

Streams ( all are narrow 1-2" wide )

1. Starting on table edge in center of E-1 and heading SW exiting off table at south end of A-5. It intersects the railroad and the main road in squares D-2 and B-4 respectively. Class IV bridge on the main road.

2. Branching off from the first stream is a second one; it starts about 4" SW off the railroad bridge (in square D-2) and heads SSE through D-3 and D-4 then it curves more easterly into square E-5 and right at the border of E-5 and 6 it corners sharply and continues ina SW direction off the map, going through squares E-6, D-7, C-8, B-9, A-10; a little tiny snippet of this river is in the NW most corner of A-11 if you are using the 8 X 12 table with Bella Vista Sanatorio.

My understanding is that these villages had mostly stone/cement block buildings, so I am going to designate most of the buildings in the towns as such. I also understand that there are lots of stone walls throughout the area designating properties so they will also be randomly placed on the table. The Cemetary, I presume will best be represented by a high stone walled in clear area; the wall itself will be a bit more costly to move over for inf and impassable to vehicles including armor.
