Orders for the Dutch Army
Given Before and After
the Battle of Fontenoy

2 o'clock in the evening
[probably 2:00 a.m., 11 May]

Translated by James J. Mitchell

All previous orders will be altered, according to all appearances, since it has been learned that the six battalions which marched in the van are still posted in front of the battalion of Aylva, which is on the left of the general quarter of the Prince of Waldeck, and that the squadrons of Schlippenbach, of the reserve corps, are also on that left in front of the Dragoon Guards. Thus it is apparent that we will march rather via the left than via the right, and that we will receive orders to pass the defile with the guides.
