6. Dragona Magazine, SYWA member Juan L. Sanchez Martin sent me a copy of his latest endeavor, the afore-mentioned historical magazine. It is the bulletin of the Asociacion de Amigos de la Historia Militar and it is devoted to the study and research of Spain's military history, The first copy is 68 pages long, Spanish text, and includes six color plates and a number of fine maps, drawings and photographs. There are articles about the army of the Duke of Milan in 1693, the Battle of Camposanto in l743, and the Battle of Vittoria in 1813 as well as articles on the Spanish Civil War. So you can see that Dragona covers the gamut of Spanish history. My Spanish is very, very limited but it appears that a subscription may be 2,500 Pesetas for 3 or 4 issues. Write to Juan c/o APARTADO l4O65,28080 Madrid; Spain.

7. The Battle Maps of The Seven Years War is the latest work published by Juan L. Sanchez Martin and the Seven Years War Study Group. This spiral-bound booklet features 13 reproductions of SYW-era battle maps and is printed on paper and heavy card stock. Maps include Rossbach, Krefelt, and Sondershausen as well as a number of maps depicting siege works built around important fortresses such as Olmutz, Custrin, etc. This is the second volume in the series and the Group plans to publish a third volume before the end of the year. Emperor's Headquarters has several copies in stock, but I do not recall the price other than the fact that it was under $30.00. Each map is accompanied by a short description of the battle or siege to provide perspective.

8. 18th Century Military Notes & Queries , Dave Ryan of Partizan Press, 26 Cliffsea Grove, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, SS9 INQ, United Kingdom; sent me a copy of an interesting 36 page booklet that covers the period 1660 to 1800 and is similar in style to the SYWA Journal. If you are interested in subscribing to this publication, then contact Dave at the above address. USA readers can purchase copies from On Military Matters in New Jersey. (see address in this issue's Guide to Jacobite Rebellion Figures). Issue No. 7 includes articles on Prince Eugene of Savoy, Swedish Military Flags in the 18th Century, Uniforms of the Papal States 1708-09, a wargame scenario for the American Revolution - starring Francis Marion, and a section on reader inquiries and answers.

9. Culloden 1746, Death of the Highland Clans, is the latest in a series of VHS videotapes on some of the great military campaigns in history. Each tape mixes 3D maps, stock Hollywood film footage and re- enactment footage to tell the tale of the battle.Dr. David Chandler analyzes the campaign and narration is provided by Brian Blessed. I've heard mixed reviews on the historical quality of some of the earlier works on the Napoleonic Era, ranging from disappointment to approval. I have not seen any of these tapes, but for only $29.95 I am tempted to check out Culloden. I think that it would be worth the price just to see the re-enactment footage.
