New Look for The Waterloo Journal

by Paul Chamberlain

The Association of Friends of the Waterloo Committee has launched a new-look version of the Waterloo Journal. A new A5 format has replaced the old A4 size, and the reproduction of pictures is of better quality. The journal contains the usual well-researched articles under specific headings such as Events: 'Sabugal and Col. Beckwith with the Light Division on the Coa 1810-1811'; The Organisation of the Army: 'A Warning Regarding the Accuracy of Regimental Returns'; and The People: 'A Military Surgeon in the early 19th Century - A broad portrait of Henry Gresley Emery MD'. All reflect the variety of interests of the association's membership.

The Association is expanding its range of visits and other activities for the membership. On 12th October, they are meetng with the Friends of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment Mu-seum for a guided visit of the museum followed by a talk on the 30th and 40th Regiments of Foot in the Waterloo Campaign. The following day will be a visit to Wellington College to mark the 150th Anniversary of the death of the 'Great Duke', and later that month will be the Autumn Meeting at the National Army Museum, when Paul Brunyee will be presenting a talk on The End of the Story: The St. Helena Years.

Membership of the Association is only £12 for individuals. The package includes three issues of the Journal each year, plus the spring and Autumn Meetings, together with visits to sights of historical interest. For further details contact the Hon. Secretary, John S. White, 256 Eachelhurst Road, Walmley, Sutton Coldfield B76 1EP. Email: jwhite02@globalnet.co.uk
