The bicentenary of this famous battle will be commemorated in Portsmouth with a series of events over the weekend of 18-20 May 2001. Final plans are still being made by The 1805 Club and the Royal Naval Museum, but the preliminary programme is as follows: Friday 18 May - Conference dinner on board HMS Victory. Saturday 19 May - All day international conference at HMS Nelson, including papers by British and Danish naval historians and a tabletop re-enactment of the battle by the ‘Inshore Squadron’. Sunday 20 May - Service in Portsmouth Cathedral.
