Falcon Figures Ltd.
SPA 1 Fusilier in bicorne, full dress advancing. Bicorne is worn fore and aft with a substantial plume. A well balanced and cleanly cast figure. SPA 2 Fusilier in bicorne, trousers advancing This figure is my favourite of the bunch. A good `campaign' figure well detailed with bicorne worn `En Bataille`(left to right), again with a generous plume. SPA 3 Grenadier march attack My second least favourite figure of the bunch. This is mainly because, I don't like the pose and the way the musket was carried to the left, looking at it I felt that the advancing pose might have suited the subject more. The bearskin looks under detailed and the trailing cloth has no detail at all. A little disappointing as I have seen 10mm Spanish with cloth detail modelled. SPA 4 Fusilier/Grenadier, forage cap, march attack. Even though I don't like the pose, unlike SPA 3 the musket is carried to the right which has a more aesthetic appeal (!), I really like this figure. He is usable in any army where a forage cap was worn and its a nice touch to have variety in a unit. This figure provides it. SPA 5 Officer in bicorne. Striding out, shouting a waving his sword. A true heroic Spanish Officer (!). Wearing a well plumed bicorne, `En Bataille' and a knee high (Cavalry ?) boots. A nice figure, only criticism is the sword `looks' to short. SPA 6 Standard bearer in bicorne. This figure, standing side on and trying to hide behind his flag pole is O.K., it has the same detail and style as the rest of the figures. But why oh, why is this figure standing still. All of the other figures in this range are advancing. I am sure many other wargamers feel as I do, that if I have a wargames unit that is advancing, I want all of the command figures advancing as well! This is a big no-no in my book and a pet hate. If Minifigs can manage it why can't everybody else. SPA 7 Drummer in bicorne. Advancing and playing, again with a large bicorne and plume worn `En Bataille'. Another nice figure. SPA 8 Light Infantry (2 variations), crested helmet. Both variants are similar in uniform style, wearing the crested helmet and side plume. Both figure sport a cloak/cape thrown across the left shoulder. The variation is in the pose. One is advancing and the other appears to breaking into a run. Again nice figures. The following additions to the range should be available by now.
SPA 10 Heavy cavalry trooper in bicorne SPA 11 Heavy cavalry officer in bicorne SPA 12 Hussar trooper SPA 13 Hussar officer SPA 14 Irregular lancers SPA 15 Artillery crew SPA 16 Generals SPA 17 Guerillos SPA 18 Casualties. Overall this range from Falcon can not be described as `collectors standard'. But they are definitely good quality wargaming figures. They are easy to paint and robust enough to stand some heavy handling. I would suggest that of the figures reviewed all but SPA 3 could find themselves at home in any French or Confederation battalion. Recommended - well worth a serious look. More Reviews
