Frost and Sunshine Meet the Start of the 1998 Re-enactment Season!
Arriving on the Saturday evening and erecting the tent in record time, I and some colleagues hastily departed to the warmth of the nearest hostelry. The night was COLD, but after scraping the frost of the tent the next morning the order of the day was keep moving , lots of drill ready for the displays and battles the following day. Thankfully after yet another cold night, Monday broke dry and sunny, and stayed that way for the rest of the day. The Infantry, Artillery and Cavalry displays cumulated in the Association parading for presentation to the Mayor and the two spectacular battle re-enactments were watched by an enthusiastic crowd and met with rapturous applause. After the long winter lay off it was good to be back in the thick of things once again.
