Constable will be publishing a two new titles of interest to this magazine's readership. In April they will issue With Napoleon in Russia, 1812; being the Diary of Lt. H.A. Vossler, a soldier of the Grande Armée 1812-1813 (translated by Walter Wallich). Vossler was an officer in the Duke Louis Chasseurs in the Württemburg contingent of the Grande Armée which marched into Russia in 1812. He describes conditions on the march and life in Poland and Russia, and includes eye-witness accounts of the battles of Smolensk and Borodino, the fall of Moscow, and the subsequent harrowing retreat, including the crossing of the Berezina. The price will be £14.99. May sees the publication of Battle Studies in the Peninsula: May 1808-January 1809 by Richard Partridge and Mike Oliver, priced at £15.99. This work looks at not only the engagements involving the British Army, but those involving the Spanish forces, both regular and guerrilla. This volume will cover the six main actions between May 1808 and January 1809: Medina de Rioseco, Bailén, Roliça, Vimeiro, Tudela and La Coruña. More Napoleonic Newsdesk
