The Ordnance Society

by Paul Chamberlain

The Ordnance Society was formed in June 1986 to promote, encourage and co-ordinate the study of all aspects of the history of ordnance and artillery. It is today an international society with members from eleven countries and all walks of life. Its primary aim is to provide a means of communication for individuals and organisations interested in any aspect of ordnance and artillery of all periods.

The Ordnance Society organises and produces a number of events and publications to further these aims. The annual Journal, produced to a high standard, includes well-illustrated articles and plans of an historic cannon with carriage and ancillary equipment. The quarterly Newsletter includes short articles, information, illustration and news, in addition to regular features such as The Ammo Box. Several visits are organised each year to various military establishments, museums and other places of interest.

Subscription rates are £19.50 (individual), £29.00 (corporate), £150.00 (life member). For further information contact Ian A. McKenzie, 3 Maskell Way, Southwood, Farnborough, Hants, GU14 0PU. Tel. 01252 521201.
