First, an apology! In the last issue of First Empire we announced that Greenhill Books and Military Illustrated were holding a Napoleonic Symposium on 23 June, with an impressive programme of Speakers and topics. Unfortunately, as this issue was being distributed we learnt from Greenhill that the event was no longer on, as too few bookings had been received. A number of people asked me about this conference either during or immediately after the Waterloo weekend, and it was obvious that many were intending on going but were waiting for the big event in Belgium to pass before booking.
If anyone did turn up at the venue on the 23 June expecting to attend, on the basis of the information in First Empire, then apologies to you. The Napoleonic Association will work closely with the organisers if they decide to stage the event next year, and we will endeavour to inform you as early in the year as possible.
