Contemporary vintage Thirty Years War
Something to start soon (started Here!), Thirty Years War using Minifigs and Hinchliffe figures. Got some help from my friends.
I will base my army on the same base sized used for later periods, 50mmX50mm for infantry and cavalry, 50mmx100mm for artillery:
- Pikes, 6 figures. Pikes levelled will be based on 50×75 or even 50×100.
- Shot, 4 figures. I feel they should be on a more open order respect to pikemen and later infantry equipped with bayonets.
- musketeers included in pike blocks will be on 50×25 bases, two figures per base.
- Infantry command figures: they will be on separate bases, 50×25, to allow to re-use the same pikes and shots for multiple nations . One officer, One standard and one drummer.
- Cavalry, 2 figures. May think of basing light cavalry on individual 25×50 pill-shaped bases or on round-cornered 50×50.
- infantry Skirmishers, 2 figures on 40mm round base
- Generals, 1 figure on 50mm round bases, higher grade Generals on larger bases, with more figures.
So far ordered to Hinchliffe:
- 20 Commands, Officer, Standard bearer and Drummer.
- 15 horses which were missing for my Horse.
- 2 medium guns and artillerymen for 3 guns, since I have stripper paint fro other artillerymen.
- 2 light guns.
To Buy:
- Minifigs commands for my Horse, an probably horses.
- Battalion guns and crew of two, a number of them.
Figures below were found very badly painted on eBay, then stripped out of paint. The quality of these cast is excellent, cannot be found on re-casts from old moulds which you may buy these days.
With these I may prepare 5 pike and shot regiments:
- 5 pike bases
- 2 shot bases
- I miss the following:
- 5 command bases
- 8 shot bases
- I need to wait for the Hinchliffe order for the commands and I will take 32 musketeers from home.
