Battle of Lonato, Part Four
Unlimber the battery, enemy is close! Click on Verbal Orders Button.
Unlimbering taks 5 minutes, let us advance in time, click on Events and then on Sync to Next event Buttons.
Now let us use the Fire Calculator, it starts by pushing the Fire Button on the Main Window.
The Fire Calculator just sets up fires, no casualties are calculated until time passes. Now let us assume that a 20 minute preparatory fire is given before the austrians reach The Brigade Pigeon.
We go to the Event handler and advance time by 20 minutes by putting 20 in the text box and then push the Advance Time Button.
Let us check that the Austrian Battery is actually firing. Click on the Log Button in the Main Window and then select firing in the Log Type selector.
Let us calculate losses, distance is 400 m, 10 cm on table.
It is possible to fire for a fraction of time or with a fraction of the unit. If you put 1.0 then the whole battery will fire for the full time allowance. As you may see a 20 minute fire is considered just because you chose to advance time by exactly 20 minutes..
Some other question will arise, a request whether is flanking fire, if the units want to lie down in cover.
These are the results, which will be stored in the program records.
Time for melee now, let us go to the fifth part of the test battle.
