Bring on the Cavalry:

Two Johnny Reb Scenarios

by George Anderson

These two small scenarios were inspired by the article in the October, 1993 issue of "Blue & Gray Magazine." They represent just two of the attempts by Federal cavalry commander, Major General Alfred Pleasonton, to pierce the Confederate cavalry screen protecting Robert E. Lee's army, as it begins its second invasion of the North. Pleasonton was a self-seeking officer who continually re-interpreted the orders of his superiors to suit his own ends. Instead of maneuvering around Stuart's Rebel cavalry, in order to provide intelligence (his most important mission), Pleasonton dashed headlong into a series of fruitless actions throughout the latter part of June, 1863.
