pre 1600 Susquehannock vs Powhattan

pre 1600 Ais/Muscogee vs Spanish. Various expeditions ambushed

1521 Calusa vs Spanish. Several skirmishes with the DeLeon Expedition

1528 Apalachee vs Spanish. Apalachee attacked the Narvaez expedition.

1539 Apalachee vs Spanish. Apalachee attacked the DeSoto expedition.

1564-65 Potano vs French + Utina allies

1565 Guacata vs Spanish. Guacata ambush several Spanish scouting parties.

1566 Calusa vs Tekesta.

1566 Tocobaga vs Spanish. Several skirmishes with Spanish scouting parties

1567 DE GOURGUES WAR: Saturiwa + France vs Spain & Tacstaluru + France vs Spain

1570-1680 Potano vs Spanish + Utina allies. A long period of hostility between the groups

1576-77 Saturiwa vs Spanish + Utina

1584-85 Potano vs Spanish + Utina The 1584 Spanish expedition was defeated. The 1585 Spanish expedition succeeded in burning a few towns.

1590s Surruque vs Spanish. A series of skirmishes in Florida's Cape Canaveral area

1597 Tacstacuru + Spanish vs Guale

1600-39 APALACHEE WAR : A major war in north Florida between pro and anti-Spanish natives. Apalachee vs Chatot + Yamasee + Apalachicola.

1604 Acuera + Utina vs Spanish

1611 Pohoy + Tocobaga vs Several Christian pro-Spanish tribes in the Tampa Bay area

1612 Pohoy + Tocobaga vs pro-Spanish tribes + Spanish. The Spanish sent an expedition to the Tampa Bay area in support of their allies

1622-25 POWHATTAN WAR. Powhattan vs Virginia/English

1642-45 Susquehannock vs Maryland/English. Protestant Swedes/Dutch encourage Susquehannocks to attack Catholic settlers in Maryland.

1647 Apalachee vs Spanish + Apalachee. The Apalachee were in a civil war between pro-Christian/Spanish and anti-Christian factions. A Spanish expedition was sent to help the pro-Christian faction.

1656 TIMUCA WAR : Fought in Florida. Timuca Confederation members vs Spanish

Pre 1660 Tsalagi vs Catawba

1660s Shawnee refugees allowed to settle in the area between the Catawba and the Tsalagi. Other Shawnee were allowed to settle in Tennessee, Cumberland area, as a buffer between the Tsalagi and the Chickasaw.

1660s Catawba vs Yuchi

1660-1707 Catawba vs Savannah/Shawnee. Fought in the Carolinas. The Catawba won.

1660-1752 Catawba vs Iroquois. Fought Iroquois raiders who were actually looking for the Shawnee.

1673 Tsalagi vs Spanish. Tsalagi raids into Spanish controlled Florida.

1675 Chatot vs Spanish. Chatot attack the Florencia expeditions

1675 BACON'S REBELLION : Susquehannock vs Virginia/English + Pamunkey + Occaneechee. Va militia attack a Susquehannock town/fort at Potomac, Maryland.

1676 Susquehannock vs Maryland/English. Maryland militia won a battle at Columbia, Maryland.

1680 Tsalagi obtains guns from English traders.

1686 Pensacola vs Mobile. A series of raids between the two tribes.

1690s Utina vs Lower Muscogee + Yuchi. Several raids against Utina towns.

1692 Tsalagi vs Shawnee. Shawnee raid Tsalagi towns

1695 Chatot vs Lower Muscogee. Upper Muscogee raid several Chatot towns.

1700-36 Utina vs English + native allies. A series of raids and counter-raids.

1702-04 Apalachee vs Upper Muscogee + SC/English. Upper Creek/Muscogee with a few English traders raid several Apalachee villages.

1703 Catawba vs French. A reported raid on the French fort at Mobile

1704 Apalachee vs SC/English. A major English expedition under Col Moore from South Carolina is aimed at defeated pro-Spanish Native Nation allies located in the Georgia and northern Florida area. The Apalachee were defeated.

1706-07 Chatot vs SC/English. English expedition from SC destroys the main Chatot towns.

1706-15 Tsalagi vs Iroquois. Iroquois warparties including Mahican and Delaware subjects raid Tsalagi towns in search of the Shawnee refugees.

1707 Tawasa vs Muscogee. Muscogee, unsure which group, raids Tawasa towns

1708 Tsalagi + Catawba + Alibumu/Muscogee vs French + Appalachee + Naniaba + Tohomo + Tawasa + Chatot + . Fought in the Mobile, Alabama area. The French fort held off the attack but the surrounding towns of the French allied nations were burned.

1711-13 TUSCARORA WAR: Tuscarora vs Catawba + Yamasee + SC militia. The Tuscarora were defeated in two battles in 1712.

1713 Tsalagi + SC and NC militia vs Tuscarora. Over 300 warriors joined with the expedition of Col Moore.

1715-17 YAMASEE WAR. Tsalagi + Yamasee vs English in NC and SC. The Tsalagi warriors came from mainly the Lower Towns

1715 Tsalagi + Chickasaw vs Shawnee. A two prone coordinated offensive against the Shawnee in the Cumberland area by the Chickasaw, advancing from the SW, and the Over-the-Hill Tsalagi, advancing from the east.

1715 Tsalagi vs French + Shawnee + Algonkin + Wyandot. Tsalagi towns in Kentucky are attacked by this coalition. Maybe in response to the attack on Mobile ?

1715-45 Tsalagi vs Wyandot. A series of raids between the two nations. The raids were not frequent but occurred often enough to keep tensions high.

1743 Tsalagi and Catawba sign a treaty.

1745 Tsalagi and Wyandot sign a treaty

1745 Tsalagi + Chickasaw vs Shawnee. A repeat of the 1715 expedition against the Shawnee located in the Cumberland Area.

1746-49 CHOCTAW CIVIL WAR. Pro-French vs Pro-British factions. The pro-French factions were aided by the Houma + Acolapissa + Bayougoula. The pro-Britsh factions received limited aid from the Muscogee and the Chickasaw.

1750 Tsalagi vs Choctaw. Tsalagi defeats the pro-French Choctaw.

1752-55 TSALAGI-MUSCOGEE WAR. Tsalagi vs Muscogee. Fought for the control of north Georgia. The Tsalagi won the war with a victory at Taliwa

1755-63 FRENCH & INDIAN WAR: Catawba served the British as scouts. Tsalagi support the British during the french and Indian war.

1758 Tsalagi + NC militia vs pro-French native warparties

1758 Tsalagi + Va militia vs Ohio Valley Shawnee. 100 Tsalagi accompanied a Va expedition but were abandoned when a lack of supplies ended the operation. The Tsalagi were accussed of illegally obtaining horses from settlements for their trip home. The negative actions by the Va colonist to compensate the Tsalagi service lead to the Cherokee War.

1758-69 CHICKASAW-TSALAGI WAR. Tsalagi vs Chickasaw. The war was as much over control of north Alabama as it was Chickasaw support for the British colonies. The war ended with the Chickasaw victory at Oldfields in 1769.

1760-62 FIRST CHEROKEE WAR. Tsalagi vs British colonies (NC,SC,VA) + Catawba scouts. Early Tsalagi victories at Long Canes and Broad River. Many small settlements and forts were overrun including Ft Loudon. Protracted sieges were conducted at Ft Prince George and Ft Ninty-Six. A 1760 British expedition under Montgomery was defeated in ambush after they had burned several deserted towns. A 1761 British expedition under Col Grant was more successful. It burned 15 towns and destroyed thousands of bushels of grain.

1765 Treaty signed between the Chickasaw and Choctaw

1774-83 AMERICAN REVOLUTION

1774-83 Chickasaw + Shawnee (Cumberland) vs Patriots. Chickasaw victory at Eaton Station and Ft Watauga in 1776.

1776-83 Catawba supported the Patriots and served several expeditions as scouts.

1776 Muscogee vs Patriots. Upper Muscogee towns raid Patriot settlements in Tennessee and Alabama.

1776 Tsalagi vs Patriots. Tsalagi raids on Patriot settlements in Tennesse. In Septemenber 36 Tsalagi towns destroyed by Patriot expeditions

1776 Upper Muscogee/Creek vs Patriots. Muscogee raid Patriot settlements in Alabama and south-central Tennessee.

1780 Chickamauga/Tsalagi vs Patriots. Raids on Patriot settlements in Tennessee and Kentucky.

1790-94 LITTLE TURTLE'S WAR. Chickamauga/Tsalagi + Ohio Shawnee vs Americans.

1791-1795 CHICKASAW-MUSCOGEE WAR

1791 Muscogee vs Chickasaw. Pro- British factions of the Muscogees raid Chickasaw towns that are pro-USA.

1792 Chickamauga raid American towns in Tennessee and Alabama.

1794 Tennessee Militia assault on Chickamauga town near Muscle Shoals (ALA) destroys the Chickamauga as a separate Tsalagi branch.

1795 Battle of Long Town. 1200 Muscogee defeated by 200 Chickasaw + 45 US Tenn Vol.

1813-14 THE CREEK WAR OF 1813-14 USA + Muscogee + Chickasaw + Choctaw + Tsalagi vs Muscogee. The Muscogee were divided into pro-USA and pro British factions and were fighting each prior to the American involvement. See the separate article on the Creek and Seminole Wars

1817 THE FIRST SEMINOLE WAR See the separate article on the Creek-Seminole Wars

1839 Calusa vs USA. The Muspa/Calusa join the Seminoles and attack USA forces under Col Harney. A series of ambushes by both sides.

THE SECOND SEMINOLE WAR. The most important of the Seminole Wars fought in central and south Florida. See the separate article on the Seminole Wars. It occurred mainly in the 1840s

THE THIRD SEMINOLE WAR. A minor revolt in Florida in the 1850s. More data will be presented in a later article devoted to the Creek and Seminole wars.

AMERICAN CIVIL WAR. Most of the native American warriors located in eastern nations either remained neutral or joined sides as private individuals. However due to the forced migration to western Indian Country, many eastern nations participated in the Trans-Mississippi Theater during the war.
