Salve Lector, A fellow print - publisher once told me it's not the first issue that causes the most trouble and delays, but the second. He wasn't kidding. I'm not sure what else could have slowed us down, except gods forbid someone dying, but enough did happen that we now have a baseline for what we don't want. Our original concept is for a quarterly printing, and a subscription rate that will cover four issues. That is still our goal, and I do apologize for the delay in this issue. We will do better. In this issue we spend much time and effort with the Numidians, those masters of Light Cavalry from North Africa. Peter Morrison provides us with another well-written piece detailing the background, qualities and tactics of the force types and how to game with them. Our Senior Editor, Stephen Phenow has provided an analysis of a campaign in North Africa in 49 BCE in the Bagradas valley that will give even more depth to our presentation on the Numidians. Next is a two part article by Don Wolfe. It's in two parts simply because the subject matter is complex and detailed, and better treated this way. And it is exactly what we are looking for, well researched historical analysis of a campaign with modern referencing. This article may well generate some controversy, but check out the bibliography for the references and the charts and tables within the article. There is plenty to consider and chew on here. So enjoy the issue, everyone. It was a pleasure to put together and print for us, and we hope you like it as much as we do.
