Osprey Men-at-Arms Series #173
By Philip Haythornthwaite and Paul Hannon

This is a useful reference book, which includes historical background and several drawings and photos of the Alamo. The eight color plates include uniform guides for the various types of Mexican infantry, cavalry, and officers. The illustrations of the Alamo defenders include Texans in civilian clothes and the uniforms of the New Orleans Greys and Alabama Red Rovers. All the leaders are also included: Crockett, Bowie, Travis, Santa Anna, and Houston. It's a valuable resource, but not worth the cover price of $15.00, so try to find it on sale.
