Position sunk: 30.49N x 33.49W (40 of 55 men lost with the boat)

The only C. O. of U-118 was K.K. Werner Czygan. This big mine-laying boat took a mission to resupply frontboots in the Atlantic September 1942 and February of 1943. She also laid mines in the Strait of Gibraltar over the night of 1/2 February, 1943.
