Chairman, British Historical Games Society
I have been given your name as the correct person to speak to in connection with a plan that we have to create an international wargaming convention. Firstly my name is JD McNeil (Ian) and I am the Chairman of the British Historical Games Society. Check out our web page at http://members.aol.com/BritishHGS/index.htm for more information about us. In 1996 I visited Historicon and took part in your tournament, and next year (1998) we are bringing a team over to take part again. This year we went to Johannesburg, South Africa to launch a new tournament which we would like to make into a truly international competition. The format was an individual competition as the main event, but we also played a series of test matches against the South Africans. It was a great week. We have agreed to return to South Africa in 1999, this time to Cape Town (a beautiful city) for the second running of this event. To be known as the Individual World Championships. There after we will host it in the UK 2 years later. I would really like to get you guys involved. We are talking to the other European Associations and we regularly travel to Paris, Brussels and other European cities to take part in their tournaments. So we have strong links with them and feel that we can get them interested as well. In fact the French sent a team to Johannesburg Australia and New Zealand also have strong societies and we hope to get them involved as well. If any of this is of interest to you , or if I am not talking to the right person can you let me know. If anyone out there is interested, please contact J.D. McNeil directly. Sounds like it would be a great time!
