When Chuck came up with the crazy idea of starting Friday morning and running through Sunday afternoon I was skeptical. A lot of people don’t show up until after work on Friday. And HMGS EAST has struggled in vain for years to keep the attenders around Sunday afternoon. Chuck Holabird offered to run his two AOR games “when needed,” and wound up with Friday morning and Sunday afternoon. I told him it was appreciated, but warned that there might not be anyone there. In the event, “Freddie wants Silesia” drew a full staff at beginning and end. It was one of the last historical games to end Sunday afternoon. But Minas Tirith continued almost to the dinner hour. There was active gaming all over the facility. More gaming than ever. And more gamers. It looked like more people than we’ve ever had. A preliminary count came up short, but Marc did a careful recount, and it came out 420-seven more than the RECON 03 record. Was this a rebound from the frustrations of HURRICANE Jeanne? Or maybe Chuck had a good idea. So we’ll do it again at HURRICON (weather permitting.)
