On 20 March, 1997, 3 days short of the first anniversary of our first application being filled out, HMGS- South was unanimously granted full chapter status by the National Board of HMGS. All of our trials and tribulations have paid off. The National meeting was held at HMGS-Tornado Alley's "Twistercon" in Oklahoma City. The meeting was hosted by Jeff Howard, Tornado Alley's National Rep and the current National Board Chairman. All other chapters were represented with the exception of HMGS-Pacific Northwest. Several items were discussed including: revision of the National By-Laws, HMGS-National provision of liability insurance for HMGS sponsored conventions, and ways to better advertise HMGS nationally to draw new members. In closing, as President of HMGS-South, I personally want to thank each and every one of you who had the foresight and faith to join in with our effort and make us successful. Initial impressions from reading the rules are that they are quite playable, flow smoothly, & make sense. After a full game, we'll be able to provide Terry some useful input (even if it's nothing more than "publish now"). Flag: The Bonnie Blue was the original state flag for Florida, now adopted by HMGS South.
