Coming up on RECON 05 there has been a lot to report. Things are going on. Dick Bryant, who was the Editor in Chief of THE COURIER for some three decades, folded his cards and got up from the table. The publication has been taken over by Don Perrin, President of GAMA, Kathryn Plambeck, and Mike Cosentino (member of the EAST BOD.) They are calling the MWAN/COURIER fusion HISTORICAL MINIATURES GAMER. Should be interesting to see. Edgar Pabon brings us the story of FLAMES OF WAR, whose success as a game and a promotional effort is a modern phenomenon in the hobby. A merger of good 15mm WWII figures and models with WARHAMMER like rules, packaging, and promotions that is making a mark among HM gamers and attracting crossovers. So in this one issue we have COLUMN LINE AND SQUARE, the rage of the 60s, FLAMES OF WAR, the phenom of the the first decade of the 21st Century, and the passing of THE COURIER, which began in one era and ended in the other. Which brings us to another coming attraction. The events for RECON 05 are coming in fast. Check them out in the PEL.
