To the Officers and Members of the Historical Miniature Gaming Society, Greetings and respects fellow gamers! The members of the Lakeland Role Playing Guild would like to offer much thanks and appreciation to all of you for making us feel so welcome at Hurricon 2003. Your organization runs a great event with an incredible amount of attention to detail and enthusiasm. We are very proud to have been a part of another attendance record-breaking HMGS convention and we look forward to continuing our relationship in the future. Our leader becomes the first HMGS President to abandon an RTT for RPG action. Hurricon 2003 was a busy weekend for the LRPG. Between program-listed games and unscheduled ones added due to demand, we ran eighteen different events and had eighty-two chairs filled. That more than doubled the participation we had at the spring event and exceeded even our expectations. It was a great piece of forward thinking by Chuck Kennedy to relocate the LRPG games to the Cypress Room. Had we held court in our previous venue of the conference rooms, we are not sure what we would have done in light of the participation we experienced. (If any of you did not have a chance to stop by and visit us during the weekend, just ask Chuck, Leon, Pat or Rhett how full "the dungeon" was on Saturday.) The weekend was also a fun one for the Guild. Some of us took part in your brand of gaming for the first time and really enjoyed ourselves (even with that unfortunate incident during the Confederate charge). And it was fantastic to see a few of you trying to play without a tape measure. (The Perdican Empire salutes you, Decurion "Rhetticles" and Optio "Leonicus"!) Hopefully, there will be even more of that kind of hobby expansion in the spring. We are very honored to be treated like a part of your community; we certainly consider you to be a part of ours. Thanks again for welcoming us to your convention and we will see you in April for Recon 2004. Huzzah!
