review by Bill Moreno
This is a product I have been using for a couple of years now. Bill Ballinger, the owner, has been producing quality magnetic bases for the gamer for some time. I first met Bill at an HMGS South convention flea market. He was selling his bases in bags of 20. This is still his practice for the greater part of his line. Bill has a standard set of base sizes that can be found on his website. These correspond to some of the more popular rules such as Napoleon's Battles, Spearhead and Fire & Fury. He will also custom make any size base within reason. Bill has just recently began making round bases. I have huge numbers of the Spearhead and Fire & Fury bases along with some cavalry bases. I use his products to the exclusion of any other bases. The nearest competitor to Bill is Renaissance Ink. They are much pricier and far less flexible. Bill will also make command bases for a little more. These have raised plastic areas attached to the back of the stand for a sticky postage label. My trick is to print my labels on paper stell and fold up the side. This way, the label sticks to the magnetic base, but can be removed and labeled differently for the next battle. Either way, I recommend Bill's Bases. I have turned my club up east, the Rogues, onto these bases as well. Try them and you won't be disappointed. Bill will accept paypal online or personal checks through the mail. Bill is also a member of HMGS South. So we win on all accounts.
