by Rhett Scott
In a recent Board of Directors meeting the final election loose ends were wrapped up. In accordance with Chapter by-laws, which are posted on our web site, Rhett Scott was elected by the BoD to be President. Replacing Rhett as VP is Bryan Stroup. Ray Phillips will serve as the Recording Secretary. Rickey Grice will remain the Treasurer. Chuck Kennedy will now be the National Representative, although at present, there is no National Board; and the alternate National Rep.is long-time club attorney Paul Risner. Look for more information soon on the next election where Bryan Stroup and Rickey Grice will defend their seats. On a separate note, Hurricon was a great success. The actual attendance was 230, a good count for the Fall show. Recon is typically the larger of the two and I expect us to reach 400 at least at the next show. We owe great thanks to Angus Konstam for attending as Guest of Honor and for bringing lots of Osprey Publishing goodies that he authored. Additionally, the usual cast of stalwarts made the show work smoothly. The ladies and gentleman that run the front desk have made a huge difference in our ability to streamline membership tracking, attendance figures and assessing what income derives from the show and from memberships. Those people are PJ Condray, Becky Pillips, Betty Panetta and Marc Rebhun. Harold Mudry continues to supply our tables and Bryan Stroup, as always, is my right arm for computer and web work. I know I am forgetting many, especially all of our dedicated GMs and others that help, but it is not intentional. At this time, Pat Condray, Bryan Stroup and myself are back in the thick of things planning Recon '01. I will be sending out the usual e-mails providing updates starting after the New Year. If you aren't getting them, that means you need to get me your e-mail address (rhettscott@aol.com). Otherwise, watch the Rebel Yell. The show is planned for 27-29 April '0 1 at the usual Hotel. I was very pleased with the efforts of the hotel to improve and I hope you all noticed the improvements as well. The hotel will be improving even more as they prepare to host part of the international press pool for the Superbowl at the end of January. We should benefit from those improvements. Additionally, we think we may have Frank Chadwick back as guest and perhaps Greg Novak as well. We will have the Armati tournament, ASL tournament, a LARGE Column, Line and Square game, we are also courting Dan Fox (Author of Davy Jones' Locker) and his vast, beautiful 25mm Pirate game. Finally, we are also expecting to host a Rogue Trader Tournament, officially sanctioned by Games Workshop. This will likely occur in the upstairs ballroom. All of these things together should guarantee a much larger, more varied and more enjoyable show. If you have gripes or suggestions, feel free to contact me. That does not mean you will always like the answer. The one thing I will ask is, that if you present me with a complaint, you better have a proposed solution and be willing to help implement it. I think this is a fair way to do business and I would (and have for previous Presidents) do the same for you all. I am very happy to have been re-elected and look forward to serving effectively as President as long as the BoD and Chapter desire me to serve.
