Scenario Rules

Play begins at daybreak on December 13, 1862.

Sunken Road on Marye's Heights: All troops occupying this position are always considered supported. The wall is (-2) for combat, (-2) for melee. Troops in the road cannot be low oil am munition during the game.

Canal and Ditch: Impassable to artillery and cavalry. Rough te I rrain (-2 inches) for passage by infantry and command stands.

Woods: Standard Fire & Fury rules apply. If marsh and woods, the terrain is considered rough terrain.

Railroad: (-1) for fire combat and for Melee.

Breastworks and abatis: Impassable to artillery and cavalry Rough (-2) for infantry All troops are considered disordered the turn after crossing

Courageous Gestures: One per turn per player side may be exercised. Once a commander has done so, he may not do so again for the entire game

Stafford Heights Artillery: All guns on the heights must add 2 inches to the range calculated from the edge of the board. None may mass then fire in groups of more than two batteries

    COURAGEOUS GESTURES or LAST ACTS OF DEFIANCE

    DIE ROLL and RESULTS (Applied to Melee Chart)

    1 After riding to the front of the brigade under musket fin: the Gen hit in the head and dies instantly. (-3)
    2 While on horseback a shell explodes nearby and the General is decapitated This appalls all who witness the event. (-3)
    3 The General is hit by a sniper in the chest and falls from his horse mortally wounded lie is removed from the field and dies later. (-2)
    4 The General bends over to pick up the flag from it wounded Color bearer he is shot in the back and falls. He is removed from the field and dies a week later (-2)
    5 The General manages to grab the national colors and move to the front Of the brigade where he is hit in the neck while demanding the men follow him. Inspired by that point, they quake at the sight of his mortal wounding. (-2)
    6 File The grabs the colors and begins to ride to the front of the troops while waving the colors and is hit in the arm and the leg simultaneously. He falls from his horse and draws a crowd of staff officers and men who remove him from the field (-1)
    7 The General dismounts his horse and unsheathes his sword. Pushing his hat over the tip, he turns toward the men and is hit in the back. He is removed from the held by an ambulance severly wounded. (-1)
    8 The General wets himself after being grazed on his ass-end by a shrapnel from all exploding shell. He is removed from the field in shock to the amusement of the men (-1)
    9 The General falls from his mount. In the process, his pistol discharges in his leg and knee. The surgeons must amputate the leg and he is removed from the field by stretcher bearers to an awaiting ambulance. (-1)
    10 The General rides in front of his men and attempts to grab the colors from the bearer, but he refuses to give them to the General and the entire brigade laughs out loud (0)
    11 The General attempts to ride to the front of his men. His horse is shot out from under him and he is trapped beneath the animal. The General breaks his leg and is removed on a stretcher.
    12 The General loses his lunch after a snipers bullet passes through his hat and is relieved by the Colonel who displays even less style. (0)
    13 The General rides to the front of his troops and waves his sword. He yells "Do your duty men!" and the men follow. (+1)
    14 The General rides to the front waving his sword and is hit by shrapnel but yells "follow me, I am not hurt" (+1)
    15 The General dismounts and grabs the colors from a wounded bearer, yelling to his men "Give em hell!" (+1)
    16 Riding to the front, the General grabs the colors and waves frantically Po inting his sword he gives a yell but never speaks. The men move forward (+1)
    17 The Generals horse is hit he grabs another from a staff officer and rides to the front asking "Who will go with me?" The men go forward with a joyous shout (+2)
    18 The General rides to the front of the line, pistol in hand and is hit in the hat but fires his pistol back at the enemy he yells "CHARGE MEN" They do (+2)
    19 The General rides forward and grabs the colors, coat and hat struck by minnie balls but he is unscathed. He exudes confidence waving the flag. The men follow his lead with a shout (+2)
    20 The General rides to the front of the men pistol in hand and flag in the other. He screams for joy and dares the bursting shells all around him. The men are overcome with bloodlust. (+3)
