Hold on to your hat folks, here we go. Be prepared to be amazed as the master showman and games master, Duke Seifried, comes to Hurricon 98 to dazzle us with his game, The Sudan. If you've ever played in any of Duke's games, you know what to expect. If you've never played in any of Duke's games, you're in for a real treat. Duke's games are a mixture of history and fantasy that he refers to as adventure gaming. For those of you who know little about Duke, he is one of the fathers of American Wargaming. Duke changed the hobby with innovations that we take for granted. Some of Duke's firsts include bubble packaging, packaging organized units, promoting retail outlets, developing acrylic paints in colors useful to the hobby and developing a complete series of rules, painting and organizational guides. Duke wrote one of the first wargames ever published in the U.S. (Melee). Duke is a master sculptor, designer, painter, rules writer, publisher, historian and major advocate for the hobby. For those of us who know him, he is simply, Uncle Duke. So grab you're pith helmet and khakis and join us for a ride into the desert as HMGS South brings you Duke's game - The Sudan. Come ride with us through the hot, scalding, freezing desert (and I do mean desert) to Khartoum. Think of Gordon, Hicks, Kitchener and of course, England, as we march to do battle with the Mahdi and his fanatics. Don't forget the sunscreen.
