To recreate the conditions of the historical campaign, use the following rules (listed alphabetically) in conjunction with the Extended Game. Players should be aware that the conditions of the historical campaign, particularly the prevailing weather, favored the Germans, and adjust their bids for preferred side accordingly. Airborne Depots. The Allied player does not receive airborne depots on September 17th. Instead, each airborne unit automatically recovers one level during the Allied player's Refit Phase. On subsequent turns Allied Airborne Supply Depots are placed in the UK Box during the Dawn Phase. For the depots to be placed on the map the UK Box must be activated and the depot placed in an eligible Supply Drop Area. The 1st Airborne Depot may not be placed in Driel. Weather does not hinder the placement of Airborne Supply Depots, only their value. Airborne Supply Depots count toward the limit of three units that may move from the UK Box to the map in a single impulse. If an airborne depot is placed in a Supply Area and all Allied units are subsequently eliminated or forced to retreat, that depot is removed from the map. Air Interdiction. Treat the FLAK Tower in Elden as "adjacent" to all 1 st Airborne Operational Sectors for the purposes of Air Interdiction. Treat the FLAK Tower in Nijmegen as "adjacent" to all 82nd Airborne Operational Sectors for purposes of Air Interdiction. Treat the FLAK Tower in Eindhoven as "adjacent" to all 101st Airborne Operational Sectors for purposes of Air Interdiction. Air Supply. The Air Supply marker is not available on September 17th. On September 18th it may be placed on the map during the Allied player's Refit Phase. Thereafter the Allied player should make a dr each Refit Phase, with a roll of "6" meaning the marker is available. Artillery. Mobile German FLAK units may function as a limited type of artillery. FLAK units may support Bombardments, but only if they are located within the selected Target Area. Unlike other artillery, FLAK units always become Spent after supporting a Bombardment. The units of the 191st Artillery Regiment may support any German Assault (a -1 modifier applies if it supports an Assault containing any SS units). Similarly the SS artillery regiment "Schwappacher" may support any German Assault (with a-1 modifier if it supports an Assault containing any non-SS units). Allied airborne artillery units become Spent after either bombarding or supporting an assault. Bridge Repair. Modifiers for repair attempts apply only in regards to units and control markers of XXX Corps. In other words, neither Airborne units nor Airborne control markers contribute modifiers to repair attempts under rule 19.5. So for example if Eindhoven was controlled by the 101st Airborne, and Valkenswaard was controlled by XXX Corps, the initial modifier to repair a destroyed bridge between the two Areas would be +3, not +6 (with an additional -1 drm for the repair attempt). Captured Airborne Supply. During the German Refit Phase check each Allied Airborne Supply Depot that has been placed on the map. Any Supply Points lost to German Interdiction are added to the available German Reserves as marked on the Supply Track. Defense of Zone F. Treat the two SS units that begin in Zone F as "armor" units for purposes of bombardment Attrition Points during the entire first game turn. Highway Movement ("Club Route'). Units of the Guards Division may only enter the following Areas south of the Mass: 40, 41, 47, 50, 51, 54, 57, 61, 63, 64, and 65. Normal retreat priorities apply if a part of the Guards Division must retreat as a result of a German assault during a German Impulse. These restrictions are lifted beginning with the September 21st turn. In addition, Allied Reinforcements in Zone F may not use the Road Net Bonus. Infiltration. Give an additional -1 drm to Infiltration attempts originating out of the Reichswald. If an Infiltration attempt from the Reichswald fails, the Attack Factor of the Point Unit is tripled during the subsequent Mandatory Assault. If a panzer grenadier unit is the Point Unit in an Assault that occurs after a failed Infiltration attempt into an Operational Sector of 1st Airborne Division, its Attack Factor is similarly tripled. Luftwaffe Night Raid on Eindhoven. The Allied player receives only four Zone F depots during the September 19th Refit Phase. Model. The German player may not attempt bridge demolition of the Nijmegen bridge until either (a) Nijmegen is Allied controlled, or (b) there are more Allied units in Nijmegen than German units, Allied 82nd Airborne units do not count toward this total. The German player may not make bridge demolition attempts on the Arnhem bridge unless both Nijmegen and Oosterhout are Allied controlled. Polder. In any Area containing Polder, treat the Area as +5 Elevated Terrain if the Point Unit in the Assault is an armored unit. In other words the TEM is +5, rather than +2, and the first CP in any Assault is always ignored. The prohibition against overruns remains. River Ferry Movement. The Allied player is prohibited from using the Driel ferry until he "discovers" it. This requires the Allied player activate a unit in either Oosterbeek or Driel, expend a Movement Factor, and make a successful "bridge seizure" attempt. Tactical Airpower. Allied Air Bombardment markers cannot bombard areas on the map so long as there are any combat unit reinforcements in the UK Box. Once all available reinforcements have landed, the restriction is lifted. German Air Interdiction markers may bombard any Area or Zone with a strength of "ll" but only if the Weather is Overcast. The German marker is removed from the map after completion of the bombardment and treated as "used" in the same manner as Allied Air Bombardment markers. Weather. Instead of making a die roll for the initial weather (6.21 ) each Turn, the starting weather is:
