Campaign Medals
by Melanie Sue Byrd
with artwork by John Pomeroy and Ray Rubin
The French medals shown were struck by the Paris Mint in a variety
of metals, most commonly bronze and silver, for propaganda purposes and for use as
presentation pieces. Today's collectors can purchase specimens made from the original dies of
these high relief neoclassical medals at the gift shop of the Paris Mint.
