Review of Village Green boat "Lady Alice" (Exploring Darkest Africa)
Glide down jungle rivers in Africa with Livingston - or Stanley looking for him! And here's the boat to do it with. It is mostly made in resin with two lengths of dowel for spars, two furled sails also in resin and a rudder & tiller in white metal. Length 22cm x 2cm x 4cm wide. There are no instructions for assembling the vessel but it is fairly obvious what goes where. I have a suspicion that the sails are really the lateen variety, not square rig. This configuration would fit in with many African vessels and with two masts probably the best rig to sail both on rivers or large lakes. An excellent bit of kit. The price is £ 12.50, at the time of writing. A catalog from VG will give you all the details and more goodies like a windmill and water mill and forthcoming "stately home" which my General wishes he could afford to live in Great!
