French: Main goal is to get off the board any way possible marching. Your line of march follows the railroad tracks to the North. You are not cooperative with anyone else. The French take care of their own. Protect yourself but get out. You are reluctant to "give them the bayonet". Enter at H.

British: Your main goal is to protect lives and property. Your reputation and the empire depend on you. You may not withdraw until turn 4 and then must roll 6 on d6, then 5 then 4 etc. on successive turns. The Americans are your natural allies, talk to them. Enter at F.

U.S. Troops: Your main goal is to get off the board by train carrying all your wounded and civilians. You are not to consider any other mission that does not get you off the board on the train. You do not trust the French. Enter at B.

Imperial Chinese Troops: Imperial troops are not interested in any hand to hand combat. They might try to block the tracks. You may have access to Train rules section. Two men may carry blocking material at half speed. If one is shot, it takes one turn to pick up log/boards, etc. You do not like the boxers. It takes 4 men 5 turns without receiving fire to tear up one track. Do not discuss your plans with them. Your cannons cause 10 points damage per die hit on train stock. Enter at A.

Boxers: Your job is to destroy the Foreign Devils and the Iron Beast that disturbs the sleeping spirits of your ancestors. You may also see train Rules. Magic will protect you and to kill the devils in hand to hand combat is an honor. You must attack, attack, and attack. Enter at E.

Tiger Men: You are elite forces within the Chinese force structure. Your job is to capture Europeans. Officers are the most valuable for ransom. The more you capture the better. Enter at E.

Train and Train Track Related Rules

Train Starts at X and moves North

  • 20 people max may be loaded on each car, only 10 per turn. Only one person per window may fire or one person per inch of open car.
  • Movement Rate. From stop, you can accelerate 1d6 per turn. Add one die per turn. Movement may never be more than 5 d6 or 30 inches. You do not automatically loose movement. If you rolled 15 inches last time and only roll 14 inches this time your are still going 15 inches but no more this turn. You may slow down up to 15 inches per turn, You lose 1d 6 per, during next turn, per six inches of slowing down.
  • People can jump onboard a moving train without death penalty roll, if train is only moving 1d6. One person per inch of movement can board. Trains moving up to 15 inches per turn may be boarded by rolling a 6 on d6, Rolling 1-5 kills boarder.
  • Smashing barriers. Movement die rate (#of d6 rolled) defeats equal number of barriers. If you are moving 5 d 6 you can beat 5 pieces of barricade material. You get one barrier piece bonus for each car, including engine, attached to train. E.g. A train totaling 4 cars moving 5d 6 can smash 9 barricades.
  • Damage points. Train cars can sustain 40 points of damage, the engine 60 points.
  • Barrier movement rate. Barriers are small twigs or balsa quarter inch lumber cut in two-inch lengths. They can be carried in wagons, which move normal rate with up to 8 pieces of barrier. Or they may be hand ported by two men moving 1/2 movement rate. It takes two men one turn to set or clear one barrier piece. Move barriers to track on turn one, barrier is set during turn two
