Review of Foundry latest releases from their ranges in 25mm. Available from The Foundry Ltd., Huberts Lane, off Doyle Road, St. Peter Port, Guernsey, GY1 IRG, Channel Islands, GB Stap me vitals Jim lad! Lookee here - dozens of the varmints laying to, port an' starboard! Wur do ee all come from?? Or words to that effect. I will list these packets, comment, and then dr-aw some of the figures, not to scale. All sculptured by Will Hannah. Cut 4 'Orrible 'Enchmen. Or lieutenants to the pirate chiefs. Some of them don't look too 'orrible. They all wear wide skirted coats, breeches, buckled shoes and five wear large waistcoats. Three wear tricorne hats and one a wide brim plumed hat. One has a bald head, peg leg, a big apron, a long dirk in one hand and the biggest meat cleaver ever invented. The plumed hat bloke has pistols all over him and a very large cutlass. One stocking capped eye patched swigs at a big bottle of rum(?) One of the tricorned gents clutches a bottle too. He wears a permanent scowl under it. A bag wigged bespectacled pirate seems to snarl as he walks forward. Two others wave cutlasses and one of them points with his left hand. Cut 7 Cutthroat Casualties. Seven figures: five prone in various positions, two sitting clasping their middles, one with a tricorne, both with a "what hit me?" expression. One prone holds a pistol, another a cutlass. All different faces. Great for dioramas or "state of morale" markers or just decorating your ships and giving them atmosphere. Cut 10 Swashbucklers 3. Eight figures. Two with two cutlasses. Six with a pistol (different sorts) and a cutlass each. All with baggy trousers (short). One has bucket top boots, all the rest bare feet. All have different gaunt faces. Three have slouch hats, one a tricorne with cockade. Cut 11 Swashbucklers 4. Eight figures. One slouch hat, two tricornes, two head fillets. One has cutlass and dagger, one two pistols, the rest have a pistol and a cutlass. Two have breeches the rest baggy short sailors' trousers. A pretty hirsute lot this - all "walrusses" but two. Cut 15 Musketmen 4. Four in slouch hats. Four bare torsoes. Three slouch hatteds advancing with muskets "at the ready." Three with muskets across the body. One has his musket upright in his right hand, standing "at ease." The other one-eyed, fork-bearded, bald-headed toughie has his musket balanced across the back of his neck in a nonchalant manner. Cut 16 Cutthroat axemen. Eight figures, all with large broadbladed axes, three with hooks on the back. All in generic pirate gear, some with tricornes. One in a stocking cap and frill beard looks like an unpleasant garden gnome. One has the burgonet helmet worn by the i/c in the assault gun vignette. If you haven't rules for these exuberant figures, "Foundry" offer "Pirates! Miniature Battles on the High Seas." One can also use them with Orcs, Dwarves and Elves. Airships and Submarines are included (as in Victorian Science fiction a la Jules Verne or H.G. Wells). I haven't seen these so I cannot comment. £ 15 post free in UK and EU. Six more packs to go to complete the "Cutthroats" range, probably out by the time you read this. Next Will Hannah will probably produce Vikings. He's got some stiff opposition here from "gripping Beast" so it will be good to see what he produces.
