LEGEND

A Section equals two guns. Number (#) is weight of shot. " means diameter of shell. Parrott, Ordinance, and Blakley are all rifles. This list is as complete as research allows, and it is covers all of the batteries involved in Jackson and D.H. Hill's struggle to hold the flank and center. Stuart's horse artillery batteries greatly annoyed Hooker's attack from their position on Nicodemus Heights. The US reserve artillery made life an "artillery hell" for any, Southern battery that unlimbered within their range. The rest of the Artillery at Antietam will be examined in the next issue of The Messenger.
