It will have been noted that from the map on page 13 of Lone Warrior 143 that the Blue Border Infantry Regiment had been moved from the city to a position north of the quay controlling the road leading to the temple of Ra. This would have been a logical move with the Pharaoh being in the area and why there was no fort positioned at the crossroads was yet another strategic error by the Egyptians of the Southern Kingdom. Perhaps this is a lesson that could be learnt throughout history that it is during periods of peace that military forces and buildings should be improved and constructed to be prepare for any eventuality in the future. All other units were as noted on the map. Due to the complex nature of this battle I needed a means of ensuring that there was a link between the various activities on the water and two banks. The way I got around this was to create a ‘Timeline Diary’, which kept very brief, enabled me to keep track of what was happening in the many and various locations. Because I was/am unable to settle down and get on with the game in one session it also enabled me to keep a track of what had happened previously when I got the time to play. [I would be interested to hear from any member who faced with the same type of problem and how they handled it]. Note: ‘R13’ means Red unit #13. ‘BH’ means Blue unit ‘H’. “R 13 adv sp by R14” means Red 4 Horse Heavy Chariots advanced supported by the Heavy Infantry Spearmen. A simple but effective system that enables me to keep track of where I am in a game which is spread over a considerable period of real time.
