Yup, Artur (the game you call Son of Italia) never got started. Too few players. Now Carl Carlsson is planning to start a Roman Republic (-esque) game, providing that he can get enough players together. Carl was thinking players should be members of a senate, with their own factions and the biggest challenge should be internal politics, organising the state and getting the offices. Players will have in-game-PC and will be able to recruit NPC during the game, and if the senate decides on it, of course they will get their legions to add glory, trade and land to Rome. At Carl's age, he claims, it is hard to learn new tricks, so many mechanics will be the same. PCs-NPCs- one action per turn- political points- trade. The emphasis this time will be on politics, meaning that victory and defeat are achieved by interaction with other players. Trade will be remodeled a little from earlier games. The political model will be based on Carl's "limited" understanding of Republican Rome. Turnaround should be at about a month - real time and game turns will be a year or so. Questions and recruits to Carl at CFCarlsson@telia.com Game intro (public part of rules+ setting will be ready in a few months time) and will be free if he can send them by e-mail.
