Having completed the final battles, I can now declare the postal Napoleonic tournament over. The take-up for this tournament wasn’t quite as good as the last one, which was a shame, especially as I think the battles in this one were better, but I’d like to thank all those who did take part. As you may remember, the players were grouped in threes. Each player submitted two armies, which the other players in his group fought with. First, I’ll list the players and the armies they chose: Kenn Hart: East India Company v Mahratta Confederacy 1804. [Never heard of these before!]
An interesting selection, eh? (Shame no-one picked Irish rebel v British militia 1798, but there you go.) And the scores:
So, I declare the winner to be Henry McLaughlan. As winner, he is allowed to wear his hat sideways and go about all day with his hand in his waistcoat. Well done! I haven’t got a new tournament to unveil this time, for two reasons: one, I want to spend a bit of time on other wargaming projects, and two, I haven’t had a good idea for one yet! Mind you, if anyone else fancies taking up the baton for a while and running Tournament Three, please feel free to do so and count me in as a player. (I can recommend it as a good way of getting to know other SWA members, by the way.) Failing that, I’ll unleash another tournament on the unsuspecting soloing public sometime in the future, when I have had a workable idea. Once again, thanks to all those who took part in both tournaments. On behalf of the players I really would like to thank Chris for an excellent job in the way he has run these two tournaments. It is the cheapest wargame(s) I have ever played and I didn’t have a single figure (of the correct type) to put on the table. I do hope he runs another tournament because I believe it gives him a lot of pleasure, which I gleaned from reading the battle reports and I know it did me. A big thanks from all of us.
