Guys, a short report from the front. For those of you who haven't yet become acquainted with The Gauntlet, let me recommend it to you. This mag is produced similarly to Lone Warrior. That is to say, it comes in a UK edition as well as a US edition. Mark Hannam is the UK publisher and writes many of the articles while Craig Martelle, currently serving in the US Embassy, Moscow, produces the US version and contributes heavily as well. The content is eclectic and reminds one of MWAN for style and quality. Moscow, as you might imagine, is a treasure trove of Napoleonic material and Craig is digging it up piece by piece. Included in the cover art in issue 17 was a color print of a Kargopol Dragoon while the inside cover featured a Nezhinsky Horse Jaeger firing at the gallop! Craig also offers a bushelful of historical/wargaming products (books, figures, prints) available for sale. Pick up a copy; I believe you will be pleased. I also have in front of me is issue 50 of The Zouave. As usual, this is a mouth-watering visual experience. History, scenarios, rules, product displays – it's all there. Of particular note is issue 113 of The Heliograph. I am always fascinated by the in-depth articles, attention to detail, thoughtful letters and reviews. If you have even a passing interest in colonial warfare, this magazine is a must. It gathers all there is in the colonial wargaming world and serves it to you hot. Richard Brooks never fails to serve a tremendous amount of focused information to his readers. For you board gamers, if you haven't given Simulacrum a shot, consider doing so. John Kula's journal of board wargame collecting is a hoot! Thoughtful review and thought-provoking commentary grace every page. Humor, insight, detailed information, what more could an educated boardgamer desire?
