Review by Rich Barbuto
As some of you know, my passion is Napoleonics in the small 25mm scale. This is variously called HO, 1/72nd, small 25s, 22 mm, and 20mm. As with many others, I got serious with miniatures when Scruby, Der Kriegspieler, and Airfix HO were about all that was readily available (and inexpensive) to the American gamer in the Napoleonic era. Some of my British associates (met some gamers when I was stationed in Germany in the early 70s) recommended Hinton Hunt but I never got around to them. My loss. I finally answered an ad in MWAN for Hinton Hunt figures. David Clayton of New Port Richey, Florida is licensed to manufacture and sell these venerable figures. I was pIeased at the figures, the variety, the low cost, and the service. If you haven,t seen them, they are remarkably akin to Der K's but better in some regards. Thus, Hinton Hunts are well matched to my wide range of other 'small 25s' from other manufacturers. The figures nest well and paint up quickly, having enough design detail to satisfy wargame needs. I bought Prussians and Dutch-Belgians for starters and will purchase more when these are painted. I am very pleased and I thank David for keeping these fine figures available to all of us. The catalogue goes for $5. Send to David at: Besides Napoleonics, you will also find American Civil War, British Colonial Wars, Crunean War, English Civil War and Hundred Years War. David also handles Eagle Enterprises 25mm figures. While I have not seen these, the photos in the catalogue depict very nice figures indeed. The Eagle range includes: HYW, SYW, ACW, and Napoleonic.
